Mohbad's Family Conducts Fresh Autopsy as Investigation into Singer's Death Continues

The family of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has undertaken a new autopsy to determine the cause of his death. This follows an order from the Magistrate of the Coroner Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, allowing Mohbad’s father, Mr. Joseph Aloba, to engage an independent pathologist for a thorough examination.

On June 26, the court granted Mr. Aloba permission to conduct the autopsy, stipulating that he would cover all associated costs for the examination, evaluation, and autopsy process.

Monisola Odumosu, a member of the family’s legal team, stated that the autopsy took place on Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20. The family plans to conduct further toxicology and histology tests on samples obtained during the autopsy if the initial findings do not conclusively determine the cause of death.

“The second autopsy as requested by the Aloba family and ordered by the Magistrate of the Coroner Court, Ms. T.A. Shotobi, was conducted on Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20, 2024. This autopsy is a two-part exercise, with the first part now completed,” the statement noted. “If the cause of death cannot be determined from this initial examination, the second part will proceed, involving a toxicology and histology test on the necessary samples already obtained.”

The procedure was observed by Mohbad’s father and two pathologists: one appointed by Mr. Aloba and the other by Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi Aloba. This ensures transparency and independence in the investigation.

“This comprehensive procedure, conducted last Friday, was witnessed only by Mr. Joseph Aloba, the forensic pathologist appointed by Mr. Joseph Aloba and his team, legal representatives of both Mr. Joseph Aloba and a pathologist appointed by Wunmi Aloba to observe the procedure,” the statement further detailed.

The family and legal team await the results of the autopsy and any subsequent tests, which they hope will provide clarity regarding Mohbad’s untimely passing.

The heartfelt ceremony also drew appearances from notable personalities, including James Corden, Marvin and Rochelle Humes, Scott Mills, and Adrian Chiles.
