Wales Call Up Leeds Teenager Charlie Crew for Nations League Matches
Wales has added Leeds United’s promising teenage midfielder, Charlie Crew, to their squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Turkey and Montenegro. The 18-year-old, born in Cardiff, has yet to make his senior debut for Leeds United but earned his first international cap in a friendly against Gibraltar in June.
Wales has not specified which player Crew is replacing, but it is likely due to the injury of winger Rabbi Matondo. The 23-year-old Rangers forward suffered a hamstring injury during the first half of his team’s 3-0 defeat to Celtic on Sunday and is currently being assessed by his club’s medical team.
The upcoming matches will be significant as they mark Craig Bellamy’s first games in charge as Wales’ manager. Wales is set to face Turkey on Friday, followed by a match against Montenegro three days later.
