Vigilante Killed in Lagos for Halting Scavenging of Contaminated Frozen Turkeys

The Lagos State Police Command has taken swift action following the tragic death of a vigilante member in Epe. According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, two suspected hoodlums have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The unfortunate event occurred when the Ibile Vigilante member, identified as Oluwafemi, 45, intervened to prevent suspected hoodlums from scavenging contaminated frozen turkeys at a refuse dump site in Afero Village, Epe. Reports indicate that Oluwafemi sustained injuries during the altercation and was initially treated at Epe General Hospital before his condition worsened on July 15, 2024, leading to his untimely death despite efforts by medical personnel.

Hundeyin further disclosed that the suspects were apprehended subsequent to a report received by the Epe Police Division on Monday afternoon. These arrests follow the earlier detention of 12 individuals handed over to the task force on Saturday for similar activities involving scavenging of contaminated turkeys.
