Tottenham Suspend Yves Bissouma After Laughing Gas Video Emerges
Tottenham Hotspur have suspended midfielder Yves Bissouma from their upcoming Premier League match against Leicester City after a video surfaced showing the player inhaling laughing gas. The incident, which Bissouma himself posted on social media, prompted the club to take swift action despite the 27-year-old’s public apology for what he described as a “severe lack of judgement.”
The footage, which shows Bissouma inhaling from a balloon, highlights the use of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas or NOS. Since 2023, possession of nitrous oxide for recreational purposes has been illegal in the United Kingdom, with violators facing up to two years in prison.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou addressed the situation, stating, “We’ve suspended him from Monday’s game.” He emphasized that while the immediate consequence is missing the match, Bissouma will need to work hard to rebuild trust within the team. “There’s also some trust-building that needs to happen between Biss and me, as well as Biss and the group,” Postecoglou added.
The manager expressed hope that this incident would serve as a learning experience for Bissouma, urging him to understand the broader impact of his decisions. “Hopefully, it allows him to make better decisions moving forward,” Postecoglou concluded.
