Tobi Amusan Falls Short in 100m Hurdles at Paris 2024 Olympics

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan, the 2022 world champion and world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, did not advance to the final of the event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Competing on Friday, the 27-year-old athlete finished third in her heat with a time of 12.55 seconds, running in the sixth lane.

Amusan’s path to the final was blocked by the performances of Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent, who clocked 12.44 seconds, and France’s Cyrena Samba-Mayela, who finished at 12.52 seconds in Heat 3. These times secured their spots in the final, pushing Amusan out of qualification.

Earlier in the competition, Amusan showcased her prowess by leading the pack on Wednesday, achieving a time of 12.49 seconds. She was followed by America’s Alaysha Johnson with 12.61 seconds and Jamaica’s Janeek Brown with 12.84 seconds. Despite her strong start, Amusan’s journey in the Olympics came to an unexpected halt.
