Singer Apologizes After Swearing on Live TV During US National Anthem Performance
Singer Loomis has issued a heartfelt apology following an on-air mishap where she swore during a live performance of the US national anthem. The incident occurred during an independent candidate debate on Wednesday, broadcast live on C-SPAN, as well as radio and online platforms.
In an Instagram video posted on Saturday, Loomis expressed regret, calling the incident a “mishap” and apologizing to the debate organizers, Free and Equal Elections. She stated, “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to mess up the national anthem.”
Reflecting on the situation, Loomis admitted her long-standing fear of failing while singing the anthem. “This has been something I’ve been scared of since I was a little girl… I was scared I was gonna fail and then I did, and the world’s seen it,” she shared.
During the performance, Loomis stumbled after singing the line “and the rocket’s red glare,” swearing and asking if she could “go back.” It was only then she realized that the performance was being broadcast live. Despite her nerves, Loomis completed the anthem, later admitting, “I got too nervous.”
The incident has drawn attention on social media, with some comparing her slip-up to past performances of the anthem that have gone awry. Despite the mishap, Loomis’ candid apology has resonated with many, and she has received messages of support.
