Raducanu Retires Injured in Korea Open Quarter-Final Against Kasatkina

Emma Raducanu, Britain’s number two tennis player, was forced to retire from her Korea Open quarter-final match against Russian top seed Daria Kasatkina due to an injury to her left foot.

Raducanu, 21, had already shown signs of discomfort in her previous match against Yue Yuan and continued to struggle in the early stages of this match. After being broken in the second game, she briefly rallied by breaking back but found it difficult to serve and move freely on the court.

After receiving a medical time-out following the fifth game, Raducanu made the difficult decision to retire after losing the first set 6-1. Kasatkina expressed sympathy for her opponent, saying, “I feel sorry for Emma. It’s a pity to get injured, especially in the deeper stages of the tournament. I wish her a speedy recovery.”
