Police Arrest Suspects in Killings of Ekiti PoS Operator and Rice Hawker

The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended individuals responsible for the recent killings of a Point of Sales operator and a rice hawker in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeniran Akinwale, revealed this on Wednesday while parading 21 suspects arrested for various crimes in the state. The suspects were also linked to other killings in Ekiti State last week.

Last Tuesday, gunmen on a motorbike killed a ticket officer of the Commercial Motorcycles Riders Association. On Thursday, they shot dead a PoS operator in the EKSUTH area and a rice hawker in the Oja Bisi area.

Represented by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, the Commissioner of Police announced that the suspects would be charged to court upon the completion of investigations. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

Abutu disclosed that three members of the killer squad, who are also members of the Eiye Confraternity, were arrested. The police are actively pursuing other suspects who are currently at large.

Following recent conflicts between rival cult groups, including the Supreme Eiye Confraternity and the Black Axe Aiye Confraternity, which led to unrest and the killing and robbing of innocent citizens, the command has launched a full-scale manhunt to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore peace.
