PICTORIAL: Fire at Dangote Refinery Effluent Plant Quickly Contained

A fire broke out at a section of Dangote Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, on Wednesday.

In a trending video, thick smoke could be seen billowing into the sky from the facility. The cause of the fire remains unknown at the time of this report.

However, Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding & Communications Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, confirmed the incident in a brief message to our correspondent. He stated that the company had swiftly contained the minor fire at its effluent treatment plant, which occurred early on Wednesday morning.

“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP), today Wednesday 26th of June,” Chiejina said.

He also emphasized that there is no cause for alarm as the refinery continues to operate smoothly, with no injuries or harm reported among the staff.
