Paddington Bear Gets His British Passport, 66 Years Later
Paddington Bear, the beloved character created in 1958 by Michael Bond, has finally been granted a British passport. However, the passport, made as a prop for the upcoming film Paddington in Peru, isn’t for travel. Co-producer Rob Silva revealed that the filmmakers requested a replica, but instead received an official specimen from the Home Office, humorously listing Paddington’s nationality simply as “Bear.” Though the passport isn’t usable, it adds a charming layer to Paddington’s long-standing story of migration from “darkest Peru.”
