NIA Director General Ahmed Abubakar Resigns

Ahmed Abubakar, the Director General of the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA), has officially resigned from his position. The resignation was submitted directly to President Bola Tinubu during a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Saturday.

Abubakar confirmed the news to State House correspondents following the meeting. He described the resignation as part of a routine briefing with the President, during which he expressed his gratitude for being allowed to serve under Tinubu’s leadership.

“It’s a routine thing, from time to time, to brief Mr. President on situations, on issues, and today is no exception. After the briefing, I tendered my resignation, and Mr. President graciously approved and accepted the resignation,” Abubakar stated.

He also reflected on his tenure, noting that serving Nigeria for an extended period of 15 months under the current administration was a rare opportunity.
