New Zealand beat Great Britain to win America's Cup

Emirates Team New Zealand triumphed over Great Britain’s Ineos Britannia in the 37th America’s Cup, retaining the prestigious Auld Mug for the third time in a row. Entering Saturday’s race with a commanding 6-2 lead in the best-of-13 series, the New Zealand team secured the decisive victory in Barcelona, finishing 37 seconds ahead of the British crew in race nine, taking the series 7-2.

This marks a historic achievement for New Zealand, becoming the first team since the USA (1987-1992) to win three consecutive America’s Cups, following their 2017 and 2021 victories. Despite never having won the trophy, this was Great Britain’s first final appearance since 1964.

British skipper Ben Ainslie praised Team New Zealand, calling them “the best team ever in the America’s Cup” and expressed determination to continue their journey, aiming to finally bring the trophy home after a decade of efforts.
