National Unity and Nigerian Identity
Allen Onyema, the Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace Limited, delivered a compelling message advocating for nationalism over ethnicity and religious divisions in Nigeria. Addressing participants of Senior Course 46 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, Kaduna, Onyema emphasized the importance of unity for the country’s development.
He expressed gratitude to the military for their sacrifices in preserving Nigeria’s unity and security, urging citizens to support and appreciate their efforts. Onyema highlighted Nigeria’s strength as a nation composed of 378 diverse ethnicities, emphasizing that this diversity should be celebrated rather than divisive.
“Nigeria is a great country, nobody should doubt that,” Onyema affirmed, rejecting external stigmatization and calling for internal unity among Nigerians. He urged against ethnic and religious discrimination, emphasizing that true national progress can only be achieved through unity in diversity.
Highlighting the positive attributes each ethnic group brings to the table, Onyema expressed confidence in Nigeria’s potential, citing its abundant human and natural resources. He praised the military’s example of nationalism and encouraged all Nigerians to emulate this spirit.
In response, AVM Hassan Alhaji, the Commandant of AFCSC, appreciated Onyema for his insightful lecture, noting its relevance beyond military service in fostering a stronger and more unified Nigeria. He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to defending and enhancing Nigeria’s greatness.
Onyema’s call for unity and nationalism resonates as a crucial message in Nigeria’s journey towards collective progress and national cohesion.
