Memphis Depay Joins Corinthians on Two-Year Deal
Dutch forward Memphis Depay has signed a two-year contract with Brazilian club Corinthians, securing his stay until December 2026. Depay, who left Atlético Madrid as a free agent in July, made 31 appearances for the Spanish side last season, scoring nine goals.
The 30-year-old participated in Euro 2024 with the Netherlands but was excluded from the squad for the September Nations League matches by head coach Ronald Koeman. However, Koeman clarified that Depay’s move to Brazil wouldn’t necessarily affect his chances with the national team, unlike Steven Bergwijn’s move to the Saudi Pro League, which Koeman disapproved of.
“The level of the league in Brazil is different, so yes, [Depay] can still be part of the national team, but it depends on his fitness and if he reaches his level,” Koeman explained.
Depay began his professional career at PSV Eindhoven in 2011 and has since played for Manchester United, Lyon, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid.
