Liverpool Faces Goalkeeper Setback as Alisson Sidelined for Weeks
Liverpool manager Arne Slot fears the team will be without star goalkeeper Alisson Becker for several weeks following an injury sustained during their 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace. The 32-year-old Brazilian keeper appeared to pull his hamstring in the 79th minute after making a clearance and was immediately substituted.
With backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher absent due to illness, Vitezslav Jaros made his Liverpool debut and helped secure the clean sheet. Alisson has now pulled out of Brazil’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Slot expressed concern about the tight scheduling after the Champions League match, saying, “Maybe the FA should look at the early kick-off after playing on Wednesday evening.”
The injury adds to concerns as Alisson had recently missed two matches with a similar hamstring issue. Weverton of Palmeiras will replace him in Brazil’s squad for their games against Chile and Peru.
