Lagos Issues 48-Hour Closure Notice to Oyingbo Market Over Waste Disposal
The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has issued a 48-hour abatement notice to Oyingbo market executives due to indiscriminate waste disposal and other environmental infractions. This decision follows an inspection by the Lagos Waste Management Authority.
The statement highlighted that the market had not maintained cleanliness, leading to the enforcement of the “Abatement of Nuisance Notice” under the Environmental Sanitation Law 2001. The notice cited the market’s failure to manage waste properly and maintain sanitary conditions.
Earlier this year, the Lagos State Government took similar actions by sealing the Oke-Afa market in Isolo and the Katangua market in Abule Egba for violating waste disposal regulations, demonstrating a continued commitment to environmental health and safety.
