Konga Ex-CEO’s Death: Housemaid Reveals Final Conversation
LAGOS — The housemaid of the late Nick Imudia, former Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian e-commerce giant Konga, has disclosed the last conversation she had with her boss before his death was announced last week.
According to a close friend of the deceased who spoke to Vanguard under the condition of anonymity, the housemaid recounted that Imudia had called her a day earlier and handed her a piece of paper containing five telephone numbers, including that of his brother in the United States.
“She said Nick told her to keep the numbers, that she would need them at the appropriate time. Thereafter, she said he went into the bathroom and she heard the shower running, indicating that he was having a bath,” said the friend.
After some time, she noticed the shower was still running and, concerned about the delay, she knocked on the door but received no response. Moments later, the private guard alerted her to come and see what had happened to Nick. She found him in a distressing state downstairs. She rushed back upstairs and still found the shower running, but when she opened the bathroom door, there was nobody inside.
Meanwhile, the family has requested the release of Imudia’s body for burial. They have ruled out suicide as the cause of death, stating that he never exhibited signs of stress or depression at any point.
In a statement, the family emphasized, “He never showed any signs of stress and was never diagnosed as depressed at any point.”
