Kane Makes History with Four-Goal Performance as Bayern Crush Dinamo Zagreb

Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane cemented his status as England’s top scorer in Champions League and European Cup history, netting four goals in a dominant victory over Dinamo Zagreb. This incredible feat took Kane’s Champions League tally to 33, surpassing Wayne Rooney’s previous record of 30.

The quadruple strike also marked Kane’s 50th, 51st, 52nd, and 53rd goals for Bayern Munich in just 50 appearances since joining the club.

France winger Michael Olise, another London-born star, made an impact on his Champions League debut, scoring twice in Bayern’s remarkable offensive display.

The match saw Bayern Munich become the first team to score nine goals in a single Champions League game. Kane started the rout with a penalty after Aleksandar Pavlovic committed a foul, coolly sending goalkeeper Ivan Nevistic the wrong way. Bayern then extended their lead with a brilliant half-volley from Raphael Guerreiro, followed by Olise heading in Joshua Kimmich’s cross.

Despite a brief scare with goals from Dinamo Zagreb’s Bruno Petkovic and Takuya Ogiwara, Bayern took control once more. Kane netted a rebound, while Olise added another to his tally, slotting into an empty net. Kane completed his record-breaking night by converting two more penalties, sealing his hat-trick of spot-kicks after a controversial handball decision from VAR and a foul on Alphonso Davies.

Leroy Sane came off the bench to blast in a long-range effort, and Leon Goretzka rounded off the scoring with a powerful header. Bayern also had goals from Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, and Kane disallowed for offside.

The match is now tied as the second highest-scoring game in Champions League history, matching Monaco’s 8-3 win over Deportivo La Coruna in 2003. The record remains Borussia Dortmund’s 8-4 win against Legia Warsaw in 2016.

Bayern’s veteran forward Thomas Muller made his 152nd Champions League appearance, surpassing Barcelona legend Xavi’s record for most appearances with a single club in the tournament.

Kane’s latest performance brings his season total to nine goals in five games for Bayern, including a hat-trick in their recent 6-1 win over Holstein Kiel.
