Ipswich Town Strengthens Squad with Clarke Signing, O'Shea Deal Close

Ipswich Town has bolstered their squad with the signing of forward Jack Clarke from Sunderland on a five-year deal. Clarke, 23, joins the Tractor Boys for an initial fee of £15 million, with the potential for an additional £5 million in add-ons. During his time at Sunderland, Clarke made 114 appearances and scored 27 goals, showcasing his ability to contribute offensively.

Clarke expressed his enthusiasm about joining Ipswich, stating, “I’m really excited to have joined the club and can’t wait to get going. Ipswich have been on a really good trajectory over the last few years, and the recruitment this summer has been very impressive.” He also praised Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna’s vision for the club and the team’s style of play, which he believes will suit his attacking instincts.

This marks Ipswich’s 10th signing of the summer, as the club continues to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League following their recent promotion.

In addition to Clarke’s arrival, Ipswich has agreed on a £15 million fee with Burnley for defender Dara O’Shea. The deal includes an initial payment of £12 million, with a further £3 million in potential add-ons. The Republic of Ireland international is expected to undergo a medical within the next 24 hours and sign a five-year contract.

O’Shea, who scored four goals in 35 appearances for Burnley, was instrumental in the Clarets’ recent successes but was absent from the squad in their 1-0 defeat to Sunderland on Saturday. His impending move to Ipswich signals the club’s intent to strengthen their defense as they aim to establish themselves in the Premier League.
