Henderson wins time trial silver
Great Britain’s Anna Henderson made an impressive Olympic debut by winning a silver medal in the cycling time trial on the rain-soaked streets of Paris. The 25-year-old cyclist delivered a remarkable performance, clocking in at 41 minutes and 9.83 seconds on the iconic Pont Alexandre III.
Henderson’s achievement is particularly noteworthy given her challenging season, during which she twice broke her collarbone. Despite the difficult weather conditions, she maintained her focus and composure to secure a podium finish. Reflecting on her performance, Henderson said, “[They were] really horrible conditions out there today, so I was really thankful that I could just stay upright on my bike.”
Henderson credited her cautious approach on the slippery corners for her success, stating, “I was a bit of a grandma on the corners, but that paid off and I used my power on the straights.” Her strategic handling and resilience proved crucial in navigating the challenging course, allowing her to excel in her first Olympic outing.
