Great Britain successfully defended their Olympic team eventing title, securing the nation’s first gold medal at the Paris 2024 Games. The victorious team, consisting of Tokyo 2020 champions Laura Collett and Tom McEwen, along with world number one Ros Canter, triumphed in the final showjumping stage held at Chateau de Versailles on Monday.

Team GB completed the three-day team competition with a total of 91.30 penalties, finishing a decisive 12.3 points ahead of host nation France, who claimed the silver medal. Japan rounded out the podium by taking bronze.

Laura Collett further distinguished herself by delivering a penalty-free performance in the individual jumping final, earning her a bronze medal. She was bested only by German gold medalist Michael Jung and Australia’s Christopher Burton. Tom McEwen narrowly missed out on the podium, finishing in fourth place.
