France’s Jaminet Suspended for 34 Weeks Following Racist Video
The French Rugby Federation (FFR) has imposed a 34-week suspension on Toulouse full-back Melvyn Jaminet after he posted a video during France’s summer tour of Argentina that contained a racist comment aimed at the Arab community. The FFR stated that Jaminet’s actions had “harmed the best interests of rugby.”
The 25-year-old player has the opportunity to reduce his suspension by eight weeks by participating in anti-discrimination activities designed to “promote the values of sport.” If he completes these activities, Jaminet could be eligible for selection before the start of the 2025 Six Nations.
Jaminet, who was sent home from the tour following the incident, expressed remorse for his actions. In a post on Instagram, he stated, “I am deeply sorry and ashamed of my comments. Racism, in all its forms, is unacceptable and goes against everything I believe in.”
