Former Cameroon International Nguemo Dies in Car Crash
YAOUNDE — Landry Nguemo, a former Cameroon international footballer, has died at the age of 38 following a traffic accident on Thursday, according to the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot).
In a statement on its Facebook page, Fecafoot announced, “Fecafoot has just learned the news of the death of the former Indomitable Lion, Landry Nguemo, as a result of a traffic accident.”
Nguemo, born in Yaoundé, had a notable career with the Cameroon national team, earning 42 caps and scoring three goals between 2006 and 2014. He was part of the team that secured a runners-up medal at the 2008 African Cup of Nations.
At the club level, Nguemo spent the majority of his career in France. He began his journey in football as a 16-year-old at the academy of AS Nancy-Lorraine, where he developed his skills and made a significant impact.
Nguemo’s sudden passing is a significant loss to the football community, both in Cameroon and internationally.
