Eto'o Banned from Attending Cameroon Matches Following FIFA Sanction

Samuel Eto’o, president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) and legendary former striker, has been handed a six-month ban from attending international matches involving Cameroon by a FIFA disciplinary panel. The ban stems from breaches of two articles in FIFA’s disciplinary code during the Under-20 Women’s World Cup match between Cameroon and Brazil on 11 September.

Brazil won the game 3-1 after extra time, and FIFA cited violations of the principles of fair play and offensive behavior during the match in Bogota, Colombia, where Eto’o was present. As a result, Eto’o, 43, is barred from attending any matches involving Cameroon’s men’s and women’s teams across all age groups for the next six months.

FIFA announced that the ban is effective immediately and that Eto’o has been officially notified. This development comes ahead of Cameroon’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Kenya in October, a campaign Eto’o had been actively preparing for in a recent meeting in Douala.
