England Advances to Euro 2024 Quarterfinals with 2-1 Win Over Slovakia

The Three Lions secured a spot in the Euro 2024 quarterfinals by defeating Slovakia 2-1 on Sunday night. Slovakia took the lead in the 25th minute with a low shot from Ivan Schranz. England equalized through Jude Bellingham in stoppage time.

An injury to Trippier in the 66th minute forced Captain Harry Southgate to adjust his lineup. The lack of a natural left-back, with only Luke Shaw in the squad and unfit to play, led to Bukayo Saka filling in, allowing Cole Palmer’s introduction.

Despite missing chances, including a wide header from Kane and a shot from Declan Rice hitting the post, England persevered. Kane eventually secured the win with a header right after extra time, despite late criticism from fans for Southgate’s decisions, such as bringing on Ivan Toney in stoppage time.
