EFCC Arrests 117 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Lagos
LAGOS, Nigeria — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 117 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Lagos State.
The EFCC’s operatives carried out a sting operation at the Regional Hotel in the Iyana Ishasi area of Lagos, following intelligence reports indicating the suspects’ involvement in computer-related fraud.
Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC, disclosed the details in a statement on Thursday. He said, “Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 117 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos. The suspects were arrested at Regional Hotel, Iyana-Ishasi, Lagos in a sting operation, following verified intelligence about their alleged involvement in computer-related fraud.”
During the operation, the EFCC recovered items such as mobile phones, laptop computers, and four cars from the suspects. Oyewale added that the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are completed.
