Edun Proposes N105,000 Minimum Wage Template
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has presented a promising new minimum wage template to President Bola Tinubu, adhering to the 48-hour deadline.
Edun, alongside the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, submitted the projected cost implications of implementing the new national minimum wage during a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The new proposal suggests a minimum wage of N105,000 per month for Nigerian workers.
President Tinubu is currently reviewing this proposal, with an official announcement expected soon. This development marks a significant step forward in addressing workers’ demands for fair compensation.
The proposal comes in response to a recent strike by labor unions, which began on Monday after their meeting with the National Assembly leadership did not yield a satisfactory outcome. The strike had temporarily disrupted economic activities nationwide, affecting international airports, schools, courts, banks, and hospitals.
The new minimum wage template reflects a positive effort by the government to improve the livelihoods of Nigerian workers, showcasing a commitment to economic stability and social welfare.
