Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu Returns to APC with Legacy Group

Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Shaibu’s return, accompanied by key members of the Dan Orbih-led Legacy Group of the PDP, marks a significant shift in Edo State’s political landscape.

At a gathering in Benin, the state capital, Shaibu announced the movement, expressing his commitment to enhancing the party’s strength and influence. “On behalf of the Legacy Group, I announce our movement to the APC. We have come to add value to the party,” he declared.

Emphasizing their readiness to reclaim the state, Shaibu stated, “It is time to take back our state. We will not talk too much because action will speak for us. We are not afraid. We are ready to move forward. We, the homeboys, are ready to take our state back through the APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa.”

Shaibu reassured supporters that they are not seeking trouble but are prepared to face challenges head-on. “We are not troublemakers, but if it comes, we will use it to rub our body, and we move on,” he said.

The event witnessed a notable moment when Shaibu arrived at 2:08 pm, walking straight to former Governor of the state, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, and knelt before him, earning applause from the gathered supporters. This gesture highlighted the unity and solidarity within the party as they prepare for the upcoming political battles.
