Djokovic Victorious in First Match Since Knee Surgery

Novak Djokovic marked his return to the court with a victory in his first match since undergoing knee surgery. Wearing a knee support on his right leg, Djokovic displayed no signs of discomfort against 27-year-old Czech qualifier Vít Kopřiva. He converted his sixth break point during a lengthy fourth game before quickly securing the first set.

In the second set, Djokovic broke early, showcasing his signature ability to turn defense into attack and forcing Kopřiva into errors. He then hurried to victory with three additional breaks of serve, finishing the match with a flourish of three consecutive aces.

“I tried to really focus on the game and not think about the knee too much,” the 24-time Grand Slam champion said in his on-court interview. “Everything that I could do, I have done over the last three weeks, along with my team, to be able to play here for you today. If it was any other tournament, I probably would not have risked it or rushed as much, but I just love Wimbledon and love coming back here.”
