Deadline Set for Bids on Historic Peter Pan House in Dumfries
The iconic Moat Brae house in Dumfries, which played a role in inspiring J.M. Barrie to write Peter Pan, is up for sale, with a closing date for bids set for 12:00 on October 3. Formerly operating as a children’s literature centre, Moat Brae was forced to close last month due to financial struggles, with low visitor numbers and reduced funding cited as key reasons by the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust (PPMBT).
The property underwent a significant multi-million-pound renovation just five years ago, but ongoing losses led to the decision to sell. Several funding organisations have expressed concern over the closure and hope a positive future can be secured for the historic sandstone building. Interested buyers now have until early October to submit their bids for this culturally significant site.
