Celtic vs. Manchester City Pre-Season Friendly
In a thrilling pre-season encounter, Celtic secured a 4-3 victory over Manchester City, highlighted by Nicolas Kuhn’s brace and Luis Palma’s decisive goal in the 68th minute.
The match, held at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan Memorial Stadium, saw Erling Haaland equalize for City in the 57th minute after Kuhn had given Celtic a first-half lead with two goals. However, Palma sealed the win for Celtic with a breakaway goal shortly after entering the match.
For Celtic, goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, making his debut, impressed in the first half, denying several scoring attempts from City, including efforts from Haaland.
City, under manager Pep Guardiola, utilized the game to assess younger talent ahead of the upcoming season, with Haaland captaining the side for the first time.
Despite City’s efforts to rally back in the second half, including a goal from substitute Maximo Perrone and Haaland’s equalizer, Celtic’s resilience and clinical finishing secured them the victory.
Both teams continue their pre-season preparations with City facing AC Milan next, while Celtic takes on Chelsea in their upcoming fixture.
