Celine Dion Condemns Trump Campaign for Unauthorized Use of 'My Heart Will Go On'

Canadian singer Celine Dion has publicly criticized former President Donald Trump for using her iconic song “My Heart Will Go On” during a campaign rally in Montana without her permission. The song, famously associated with the movie Titanic, played as an interlude at Trump’s rally in Bozeman on Friday, where he targeted his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Dion’s management team released a statement on Saturday, which was shared on her X account, stating, “In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use.” The statement also included a humorous jab at the campaign’s choice of song, leading to a wave of social media mockery about using a theme from a movie centered on a sinking ship.

Dion’s team, along with Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage on Saturday. The Trump campaign has yet to respond to requests for comment.

In contrast, Vice President Harris has been using Beyoncé’s song “Freedom” at her rallies, with the pop star reportedly granting permission for its use. Harris has been gaining momentum in the polls, intensifying the competition between her and Trump as the election approaches.
