Bournemouth Secures Record-Breaking £40.2m Deal for Brazilian Striker Evanilson
Bournemouth has made a major statement in the transfer market by signing Brazilian striker Evanilson from Porto in a club-record £40.2 million deal. The 24-year-old forward has signed with the Cherries after a successful four-year stint in Portugal, where he netted 60 goals in 154 appearances.
The initial fee for Evanilson is £31.7 million, with an additional £8.5 million potentially being added if performance-related clauses are met, making him the most expensive signing in Bournemouth’s history.
Bournemouth’s Chief Executive, Neill Blake, expressed his excitement over the acquisition, stating, “Evanilson is a hugely sought-after striker, and for us to bring him to the club in a record-breaking deal shows our ambition and intent.” He highlighted the forward’s impressive track record, including 25 goals last season, some of which were in the Champions League.
Evanilson has already earned two caps for Brazil and was part of the squad at the recent Copa America, where he made a substitute appearance during Brazil’s quarter-final match against Uruguay.
He will take over the number nine shirt, previously worn by Dominic Solanke, who recently transferred to Tottenham in a deal worth up to £65 million. The addition of Evanilson is expected to bolster Bournemouth’s attacking options as they aim to achieve their ambitions in the upcoming season.
