Beyoncé Surpasses Jay-Z to Become Most-Nominated Artist in Grammy History
Beyoncé has reached a new milestone by becoming the most-nominated artist in the history of the Grammy Awards, surpassing her husband, Jay-Z. Previously, the couple were tied with 88 nominations each, but Beyoncé has now taken the lead thanks to 11 new nominations for her latest album, Cowboy Carter.
Her latest accolades include nods for best album, best country album, and song of the year for Texas Hold ‘Em. This positions her at the forefront of this year’s Grammy competition, ahead of fellow nominees Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, and Charli XCX, who each earned seven nominations.
In an intriguing development, The Beatles received a nomination for record of the year for Now And Then, a song completed with the assistance of AI technology after being unfinished since John Lennon’s time.
Beyoncé already holds the record as the most-awarded artist in Grammy history, with 32 individual wins and three more as a member of Destiny’s Child. Despite her success, she has yet to secure an album of the year win after four previous nominations.
Jay-Z, accepting a lifetime achievement award earlier this year, highlighted the inconsistency of Beyoncé’s top-category recognition, remarking, “The most Grammys; never won album of the year. That doesn’t work.”
