Australian Hockey Player Detained in Paris for Cocaine Purchase

An Australian hockey team member was arrested in Paris on Tuesday night for allegedly purchasing cocaine in the city’s ninth arrondissement. The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed the arrest, although the individual has not yet been formally charged.

The Australia Olympic Committee (AOC) has not disclosed the individual’s identity or the specific offense.

According to the prosecutor’s office, “Given the quantities of drugs seized from the seller, the investigation has been entrusted to the anti-narcotics police.

Both the men’s and women’s hockey teams from Australia were eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The AOC stated, “The AOC is continuing to make enquiries and arrange support for the team member,” as they work to gather more information and provide assistance to the individual involved.
