Atlético Madrid Secure Conor Gallagher in £33m Deal from Chelsea
Atlético Madrid have completed the signing of England midfielder Conor Gallagher from Chelsea for a reported fee of £33 million. The 24-year-old has committed to a five-year contract with the Spanish giants, marking a significant move in his career.
Gallagher, who has been with Chelsea since the age of six, made 90 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals. With only one year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea opted to sell him now to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer next summer.
The deal was part of a broader negotiation that also sees Atlético forward João Félix moving to Chelsea, after the two clubs agreed on a fee for the Portugal international. This transfer allowed Atlético to finalize Gallagher’s move after initial delays, which had seen the midfielder return to London when the deal briefly stalled.
