Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta Signs New Deal Until 2027
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has agreed to a new three-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2027. The 42-year-old Spaniard was set to be out of contract at the end of the current season but will now continue his tenure for another three years.
Arteta, who took charge in December 2019 after working as an assistant coach under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, quickly made an impact, guiding Arsenal to an FA Cup victory in the 2019-2020 season. Since then, he has been working to return the Gunners to their former glory, securing back-to-back second-place finishes in the Premier League behind Manchester City over the past two seasons.
The announcement of Arteta’s new contract is expected ahead of Sunday’s north London derby against Tottenham. Arsenal have had a solid start to the current season, sitting fourth after three games, with wins over Wolves and Aston Villa and a draw against Brighton.
A former Arsenal captain, Arteta made 150 appearances for the club during his playing career, further cementing his legacy both on and off the pitch. His long-term contract signals Arsenal’s continued confidence in his leadership as they aim for their first Premier League title since the 2003-04 season.
