Accidental Rocket Launch by Chinese Company Ends in Crash
A space rocket owned by a private Chinese company, Tianbing Technology, accidentally launched itself during a test on Sunday, crash-landing into a hillside. The company stated that a “structural failure at the connection between the rocket body and the test bench” caused the unintended launch. The onboard computer automatically shut down, and the rocket fell into a deep mountain area 1.5 km southwest of the test bench. Fortunately, there were no casualties as the area had been evacuated. The Tianlong-3, a Chinese-designed and manufactured rocket, was intended to be reusable.
