AC Milan Secure Emerson Royal from Tottenham Hotspur
AC Milan have bolstered their defense with the signing of Brazilian right-back Emerson Royal from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old defender, who has earned 10 caps for Brazil, has committed to a four-year contract with the Serie A giants, with an option to extend for an additional year.
Emerson, who joined Tottenham from Barcelona in August 2021 for £25.8 million, made 101 appearances for the North London club, reaching the milestone against Liverpool at the end of last season. His consistent performances caught the attention of several top clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and teams from Saudi Arabia, but Milan managed to secure his signature after Spurs initially rejected an £8.4 million bid from the Rossoneri last month.
Emerson will don the number 22 shirt at Milan, adding strength and experience to their defensive lineup. Milan fans will get their first glimpse of the new signing when the team kicks off their season at home against Torino on Saturday.
