4.4 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Los Angeles Area, No Major Damage Reported

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake rattled the Los Angeles area on Monday afternoon, causing widespread concern but no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries. The quake’s epicenter was near Highland Park, close to the iconic Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

Residents in surrounding cities like Pasadena, Glendale, Manhattan Beach, and El Segundo felt the tremors, but there was no tsunami warning issued.

The Los Angeles Fire Department has mobilized crews from its 106 stations to conduct a thorough survey of the Greater Los Angeles area to assess any potential structural damage. Initially estimated at 4.7 magnitude, the earthquake’s strength was later downgraded to 4.4 by the USGS.
