Real Madrid make improved contract offer to Vinicius Junior

Real Madrid CF have made an improved contract offer to forward Vinicius Junior as the club look to secure his long-term future.

The Brazil international has entered the final year of his current deal and has attracted interest from Arsenal F.C. in recent weeks.

Negotiations over a new contract had stalled, but Real Madrid have now submitted an improved proposal, which Vinicius is understood to have received positively.

The Spanish club are now awaiting the 26-year-old’s decision, with senior figures, including returning head coach José Mourinho, increasingly optimistic that he will extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Should Vinicius reject the offer, Arsenal are expected to step up their pursuit of the Brazilian winger.

The forward signed his previous contract extension three years ago, with that deal set to expire next year. Real Madrid and the player’s representatives have been negotiating a new agreement for the past 18 months.

Vinicius returned to the club on Monday for pre-season training and medical assessments following Brazil’s World Cup campaign.

Since joining Real Madrid, he has made 375 appearances in all competitions, scoring 128 goals.

The Brazilian is understood to be seeking a contract that reflects his status as one of the club’s leading players, while Real Madrid have remained committed to maintaining their long-standing wage structure under club president Florentino Pérez.

Vinicius has previously described Real Madrid as “the club of my dreams” and said he hopes to remain with the Spanish giants for many years.
